Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Rappahannock Stingrays Swim Team’s Ava Eddy has verbally committed to Arizona State University as a part of the Sun Devil women’s 2027 recruiting class.
Eddy was mentioned in SwimSwam’s “Best of the Rest” section in the way-too-early ranking of the top 20 recruits in the girl’s high school class of 2027.
I am beyond excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at Arizona State University!! A big thank you to my family and friends for supporting me, Coach Dylan and Coach Conner for pushing me to be the best version of myself, in and out of the pool. Also special thanks to Coach Herbie for this amazing opportunity.
Forks up 😈🔱
Eddy wrapped up her summer campaign with a pair of best times at the Speedo Junior National Championships. She clocked a best time in the 100 backstroke in prelims at 1:02.85; she later finished 13th overall in 1:02.96. Her other best time came in the 200 back, where she stopped the clock in 2:17.69, placing 19th.
As a sophomore at King George High School, Eddy took home the win in the 50 freestyle at the Virginia High School Class 4 State Championships in March. She clocked a lifetime best 23.70 to win the state title. Additionally, she turned in a runner-up finish in the 100 back, clocking 55.34, slower than her best time she set at the NCSA Spring Championships just a few weeks later in 53.86.
Eddy holds a best time in the 200 back of 1:57.93 from the 2025 VSI SC Senior Championships this past March. She also holds very respectable freestyle bests, including the 100 free (51.63), and 200 free (1:53.71).
Best Times SCY:
- 100 Back: 53.86
- 200 Back: 1:57.93
- 50 Free: 23.70
- 100 Free: 51.63
- 200 Free: 1:53.71
The Arizona State women took home the win at the 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships last season.
Based on Eddy’s best times, she would have qualified for the ‘B’ final in both the 100 back and 200 back, and finished 54th in the 200 free.
Her times from her sophomore year of high school are already not far outside of Big 12 scoring potential. There will be a really good chance for Eddy to make an immediate impact on the Sun Devil women’s team right when she steps on campus.
Her progression is also a really positive sign, as she has set all of her most notable best times in the last 12 months. With two years still to develop, she may become a mainstay on the Big 12 podium and further.
Eddy joins Hannah Carpenter in the Sun Devil women’s 2027 recruiting class.
