Austin Swim Club Adds Another Olympian To Their Staff

Austin Swim Club head coach and 6-time Olympic medalist, Brendan Hansen, has hired Christian Schurr as a full time coach.  The University of Texas alum and Mexican Olympian adds more coaching power to ASC’s staff after a strong short course season.

“Christian really adds a lot to my staff and we are very excited about the hire. ASC had a stellar short course season and we are very excited about the upcoming long course season especially with Christian on board.”

Brendan Hansen, ASC Head Coach, 6-time Olympic Medalist

Christian represented Mexico at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.  At the University of  Texas he graduated with a degree in Kinesiology. As a student athlete he earned All-American Honors.  While a UT undergrad, Christian competed for the United States in the World University Games in 2003 and the Pan American Games in 2007, where he earned a gold medal.

After his college career finished, Christian swam professionally, competing in the Short Course and Long Course World Championships in 2012 and 2013.

Christian retired from swimming, but never left the sport he loves.  Christian turned to coaching where he’s applied his knowledge helping swimmers achieves their goals in and out of the pool.
