Futures finalist Michael Zhou has verbally committed to Army West Point for the recruiting class of 2025.

Zhou is from Great Falls, Virginia, where he swims for Nation’s Capital Swim Club and Langley High School. At the 2025 VHSL Class 6 State Championships, he finished 3rd in the 100 back (49.38) and 200 IM (1:49.69), setting new personal best times in both.
In July, he swam at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Greensboro where he qualified for the finals in the 50 back, finishing 13th in 26.90, and the 100 back, finishing 14th in 57.58.
Zhou also competed at the US Open in December, finishing 36th in the 100 back (50.21), 18th in the 200 back (1:47.50), and 31st in the 200 IM (1:51.53).

Army West Point is a part of the Patriot League, and they recently won their first team title since 2001, dethroning their rival, Navy.
On last season’s team, Zhou would have been 5th in both backstroke events and in the 400 IM and 7th in the 200 IM. Most of the athletes ahead of him will graduate before Zhou arrives on campus in the fall, and he is coming in as a likely scoring swimmer as a freshman.
At last year’s Championships, he would have been 17th in the 200 IM, 16th in the 400 IM, 14th in the 100 back, and 12th in the 200 back, and he still has an entire year left in high school.
He will join a recruiting class of Elonzo Santos, Brody Chandler, Holden Skidmore, Roy Kwon, Jason Sugihara, Paul Moody, Michael Gumino, and Hunter Zipperer.
