Anna Moesch on 1:39.0: “Worked on, all year, being really comfortable with uncomfortable”

2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Virginia sophomore Anna Moesch made history last night, anchoring UVA’s 800 free relay to victory in the fastest 200 free split ever, 1:39.00. After the race, Moesch said that she always tries to save a bit (perhaps too much) for the last 50 of her race. However, she goes onto say she’s also worked all year on being uncomfortable in that last 50, which has helped her push through the pain and be comfortable racing it.
