The 2025 German Short Course Championships kick off tomorrow, Thursday, November 13th, where any remaining available slots on the nation’s European Short Course Championships in Lublin, Poland will be up for grabs.
A total of 882 athletes are expected to race over the course of four days, with 2024 world champion Angelina Köhler entered in eight events.
Of note, several swimmers have already nabbed SC Euros roster spots based on performances at this year’s World Championships, including Anna Elendt and Lukas Märtens.
Notably, Märtens, along with Isabel Gose, Florian Wellbrock, and many others from the top group in Magdeburg under national coach Bernd Berkhahn, are currently testing the conditions at a high-altitude training camp in Flagstaff (Arizona) as a potential Olympic preparation location for the 2028 Olympic Games.
The German Swimming Federation says a maximum of 30 swimmers may qualify for Lublin, Poland with the qualifying times divided into two categories, one for ‘open’ and one for ‘athletes under the age of 23.’
