Alabama to create new swimming scholarship in John Servati’s name

In a week that’s been full of outpourings of support and gratitude for fallen Alabama swimmer John Servati, the Crimson Tide Athletic Department has announced it will create a scholarship to memorialize the man who was killed protecting his girlfriend during the severe storms hitting the southern U.S.

The scholarship will support the swimming program specifically, honoring Servati and carrying on his legacy with the program well into the future.

The University has set up a fund for anyone interested in donating to the John Servati scholarship endowment.

This is so right. I commend the University of Alabama for doing this to preserve the memory of not only a courageous student-athlete, but a courageous man.
