Adam Peaty Makes Training Move Back to London in Preparation for Los Angeles Olympics in 2028

In preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, World Record breaststroker Adam Peaty will be relocating his training base from the Midlands to the capital city of London, along with his wife, Holly Ramsay-Peaty, the daughter of world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay, to whom he married in December.

Peaty’s new training setup will see him split his time between Kensington and the London Aquatics Centre, the home of the 2012 Olympics in London and the host site for Peaty’s AP Race London International, which is currently taking place.

In an interview with Olympics.com, Peaty said he felt he had reached a point where he “outgrew” his previous training setup.

“We just got to that point where I feel like I really outgrew where I was,” Peaty said to Olympics.com. “I’ve been training in the Midlands for 15 years-plus. I’ve spent my whole life there and I wanted a different challenge… It’s just excitement for me. I need a lot of stimulus in my day and London is giving me that every single day.”

The move to London is more than just a training move; since getting married, the focus has shifted to the family side as well.

“Being married, and with future family plans and everything that is going on, I think London is the best place for me. It allows me to focus. I can just get in that zone here.” Peaty said. I know it’s very premature, because I’ve only been here coming up to four weeks now. But it’s a very nice place for me to be, mentally. When you are in a happy place or a good place as an athlete, you start to perform out of your skin.”

In 2028, Peaty will be eyeing a 3rd 100 breast gold, after narrowly missing out on gold in Paris by just two hundredths of a second. Peaty feels that the move to London and the change in training could be what gets him back atop the Olympic podium.

“I am working under Lisa Bates on a different training model,” Peaty told Olympics.com. “I am doing a lot more metres again now. My metres have pretty much doubled since before the British trials. It’s been a high load and we’ve had some great outputs. It’s all really positive.”

This change, while moving on from a place that helped blossom Peaty into the powerhouse we know today, has gotten Peaty excited about the next two years heading into 2028.

“It has been a big adjustment, a bit of chaos as well, but nothing that hasn’t been manageable. I’m really looking forward now to the next two years.”

Higher meters is a big deviation from where he was, and what he espoused. Good luck!
