2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships

The 2026 Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships start tomorrow, and the Texas Longhorns are looking like the favorite to win their 2nd straight title in the event.

We have put together a graphic to visualize exactly how the point spread will work throughout the meet, and it helps visualize what the numbers are showing.

The Longhorns are not seeded first in any night one events, and it is likely they will finish the day outside of the top spot. Depending on the way the relay shake out, they could even finish day one outside the top three. On day two, the Longhorns should take the lead early in the session, likely following the 400 IM, and they don’t look likely to cede that spot at any point, only extending their lead as the meet goes on.

Here are the updated Projected Points Per Event After Scratches

Indiana, Florida, ASU, and Cal are looking like they will be battling in swimming points throughout the first three days, with events like the 50 free and the relays being huge game changers for ASU, while Indiana will rely on points in the 100 fly and 100 back and Florida will look for big points in the distance free and 100 fly.

Cal appears to drop out of top three contention on the final day, but they shouldn’t be counted out because we know what Cal is capable of when they taper fully.

NC State gets stronger as the meet goes on, and are projected to finish the meet in 4th, jumping up from their 8th place position at the end of the first day.
