Women’s Recap

NAU continues to lead the charge, sitting atop the team standings with a buffer of over 100 points after day 3, while Northern Colorado and NMSU are currently locked in a tight battle for 2nd.

Northern Colorado’s Maria Erokhina delivered a shining performance in the 100 breast Friday night, breaking the conference and championship record with a lifetime best time of 59.96. Charging into the wall almost two seconds ahead of runner-up Cydnie Perkins (1:01.75), Erokhina shaved .14 off of the previous meet record, which was set by Katie McBratney in 2021. Erokhina’s performance also broke the pool record in the event, marked her first time breaking the 1:00 barrier and punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships.

Two more pool records went down on the women’s side. NMSU’s Dijana Mazumdar claimed the championship title in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:47.58 and taking the pool record below 1:48 for the first time. The 400 medley relay went to Northern Colorado, with the team of Martina Trionfetti [55.12], Erokhina [59.24], Ellyson Lombardi [53.25] and Kyra Rabess [49.64] posting a time of 3:37.25 to shave .68 off the pool record.

Idaho’s Ginger Kiefer turned in another top swim, completing a sweep of the IM events. She charged into the wall ahead of the pack in the 400 IM, touching in 4:17.01 to earn her second individual gold of the meet.

Emily Dobbins also picked up her second gold medal of the meet; the NMSU junior prevailed in the 100 back in 54.37, logging a new lifetime best in the event.

NAU’s Kaci Kelaher took home the championship title in the 100 fly with a narrow victory by just .01, stopping the clock in 53.74. Her performance marked the 2nd-fastest time in NAU program history. Chasing her down was Lombardi, who touched in 53.75 to secure silver. The pair were the only two in the field to go sub-54.

Men’s Recap

The men’s side of the competition saw two more championship records fall on Friday night, while several athletes punched their tickets to NCAAs.

Air Force’s James Winterfield kicked off the night in style with a conference record in the 100 fly. He threw down a time of 46.06, securing an NCAA qualification and besting the former meet and pool records in the event. Winterfield shaved .13 off of the MPSF record, which previously stood at 46.19 and was set by Vili Sivec in 2024.

Winterfield’s performance also broke his own Air Force program record (46.84) that he set last season.

The very next event saw another MPSF record get taken down, as Wyoming’s Alex Metzler won the 400 IM in 3:44.10. His performance broke the former conference record time of 3:44.99, set back in 2022 by Tanner Nelson, and earned Metzler his second individual gold of the meet. Jackson Kogler, who won the 200 IM on Thursday, took the runner-up spot in 3:46.00.

Wyoming picked up another victory in the 200 free thanks to Simon Casey, who prevailed with a time of 1:33.80. Not far behind was UNLV’s Ambrus Barcsak, who touched in 1:34.21 to claim silver. Barcsak’s time marked the 2nd-fastest time in Rebel history.

Air Force’s Tanner Wilson turned in a top performance in the 100 breast, posting a time of 52.19 to bring home the championship title and punch his ticket to the NCAAs. Wilson now ranks 2nd on the Falcons’ list of all-time top ten performers in the event.

UNLV brought home two championship titles to boost the team’s standing. The Rebels posted a 1-2 finish in the 100 back, led by Wikus Potgieter in 46.32, which marks the 2nd-fastest time in program history. He was followed by teammate Tatsuki Inoue, who touched 2nd in 46.52.

Potgieter was back in action shortly later for the 400 medley relay, leading off with a time of 46.74 on the backstroke leg. He was joined by teammates Ty Schneider [52.79], Ian Bellflower [46.22] and Bryson Huey [42.17] to secure the victory with an overall time of 3:07.92, the 2nd-fastest time in school history.

CBU’s Mario Del Valle won the platform diving event, posting a score of 411.20 points en route to bringing home his second gold medal of the meet after winning the 3-meter event on Wednesday. Meanwhile, teammate John Angelovic claimed bronze with 341.50 points.

Tyler Mansheim also had a great day on Friday, breaking his own CBU program record in the 100 fly twice. He first broke it during prelims with a time of 46.95 before lowering it event further with a time of 46.66 in finals, finishing 4th overall. The record previously stood at 46.98, which Mansheim set in February 2025.

Air Force continues to lead the charge heading into the final day of competition, with UNLV sitting just five points behind as the teams gear up for a tough battle for the last few sessions.
