Three one-hundredths of a second — less time than it takes to blink — decided the boys’ title at the Utah 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships.
Mountain Crest entered the 400 free relay trailing Park City by two points, and the two teams were neck-and-neck going toward the wall in the final leg of the relay.
But Kyler Kwant of Mountain Crest managed to touch first, anchoring in 47.23 to outlast a hard-charging Logan Siegrist (46.31) of Park City.
Mountain Crest finished with a time of 3:16.35, just three one-hundredths ahead of Park City (3:16.38) to claim its first title since 2013 in a near-photo finish.
In the girls’ event, Park City repeated as champion in a less thrilling finish, earning 151 points more than runner-up Desert Hills.

Great job, Kyler. Not easy to fight off someone bent on running you down
especially Logan Siegrist. mad kudos to him, I raced him in both the 100 and 200. in the 200, his 100 split was roughly what placed 2nd in the 100. he’s a kickass swimmer
