ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine swimming and diving program competed against Maine Maritime Academy at Wallace Pool on Saturday afternoon.
The team of Amelia Obszarny, Gabi Volpe, Isabelle Irani and Mia Poirier would open the afternoon winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:50.35.
Charlie Hoover would finish in first place with a time of 2:12.50 in the 200 Yard IM. Ula Haller would finish second with a time of 2:16.93.
In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Laura Dube would come out on top with a time of 1:59.56. Lydia Williams would finish second with a time of 1:59.63.
Amelia Obszarny would win the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:00.53. Isabelle Irani would finish with a time of 1:04.41.
Eva Welsh would come out on top in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 31.44. Elle Cadigan would be the runner up finishing with a time of 31.98.
Emily Yorkievitz would finish the 100 Yard Butterfly in first place with a time of 59.27. Macy Organ would also finish the event in under a minute with a time of 59.83.
Mia Poirier would tally her first singles win in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.18. Nikki Harkins would finish in second with a time of 25.99.
Ashley LeClaire would finish on top in the 1 meter Diving with a score of 254.25. Madelyn Ruppert would finish with a score of 240.38.
Elle Cadigan, Amelia Obezarny and Mia Poirier would all finish very close to each other in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Cadigan finished with a time of 54.16, Obszarny would finish at 54.22, and Poirier would finish at 54.76.
Bella Wilkinson would finish the 200 Yard Backstroke in first place with a time of 2:13.41. Amelia Habgood would finish in second with a time of 2:16.08.
Eva Welsh would win her second Breaststroke event, this time the 100 Yard event with a time of 1:08.01. Laura Dube would finish second with a time of 1:09.34.
With a time of 5:15.50, Nikki Harkins would finish first in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Lili Nelson would finish in second with a time of 5:18.93.
Emily Yorkievitz would finish in first in the 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 26.96. Charlie Hoover would follow up Yorkievitz with a time of 27.01.
Madelyn Ruppert would finish the 3 meter Diving on top with a score of 264.45. Ashley LeClaire would finish second with a score of 243.23.
Eva Welsh would win her third event of the afternoon as she finished the 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:01.60. Elle Cadigan would finish second with a time of 1:02.84.
ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine swimming and diving program competed against Maine Maritime Academy in a dual meet at Wallace Pool on Saturday afternoon.
The afternoon for the men started with the 200 Yard Medley Relay where the team of Matthew Bendoraitis, Nate Teerlinck, Joey Strauss and Julian Lapietra took home first place with a time of 1:34.77.
In the 200 Yard IM, Noah Machristie took home first place with a time of 1:57.40. Ryan Albert finished second with a time of 2:06.68 and Jesse Lower finished third with a time of 2:08.04.
Joey Stauss took home first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 1:43.92. Julian Lapietra (1:48.11) and Carter Barolini (1:50.71)rounded out the top three.
Matthew Bendoraitis finished the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 53.15 to take home another first place finish on the day. Jacksonville White finished second with a time of 55.75.
Nate Teerlinck would come in first place in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 27.00. Ian Mallari would follow Teerlinck with a time of 28.00. Cooper Polzin would wrap up the top three with a time of 28.46.
Calvin Comeau would take home the top spot in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 52.24. Max Louie would finish at 53.25 and Connor Peaden would follow with a final time of 55.64.
Joey Harrison would narrowly beat out Scott Klein in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Harrison would finish with a time of 22.59 and Klein would finish at 22.60.
Gray Miller would take home the top score in the 1 meter Diving event with a score of 295.58. Jeremiah Small would finish second with a score of 275.33.
Swimming events would return and Julian Lapietra would open the 100 Yard Freestyle with a first place finish, finishing with a time of 47.14. Scott Klein would finish second with a time of 49.06.
Matthew Bendoraitis would rack up another first place finish, this time in the 200 Yard Backstroke finishing with a time of 1:55.76. Joey Harrison would finish with a time of 2:00.94.
Nate Teerlinck would return to the water with a first place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 58:18. Jesse Lower finished with a time of 1:00.63.
Carter Bartolini would finish first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:51.91. Ryan Albert would finish second with a time of 4:58.84.
Joey Stauss with a time of 22.41, would win the 50 Yard Butterfly. Calvin Comeau would come in second with a time of 23.78.
Ian Mallari would finish first in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 54.64. Noah Machristie would follow Mallari with a time of 54.97.
The team of Joey Stauss, Matthew Bendoraitis, Scott Klein,and Julian Lapietra would win the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:28.00.

ORONO, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy women’s swimming & diving team returned to the pool on Sunday, competing against the University of Maine.
The Mariners opened the day with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Junior Claire MacDonald, freshman Emily Metzker and senior Rayelle Brewer posted a time of 2:12.65.
Senior Kylie Cantlon and sophomore Kate Griffin finished fourth and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley with times of 2:45.37 and 2:52.16, respectively.
Freshman Natalie Cady posted a time of 2:21.64 to finish fifth in the 200-yard freestyle, while freshman Marin Griffin added a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:15.58. Freshman Avery Fraga followed in fifth at 1:18.77.
Kate Griffin added to her day with a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke, clocking a 39.93.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Cantlon finished with a time of 1:17.43, while Brewer and Metzker recorded times of 27.52 and 29.92, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle.
Sophomore Abigail Cormier scored a 125.40 in the one-meter diving event to finish fourth. Marin Griffin led the Mariners in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.41, followed by Fraga (1:03.72), MacDonald (1:04.74) and Cady (1:05.07).
Metzker and Cantlon posted times of 1:25.94 and 1:28.27 in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Brewer clocked a 6:05.57 in the 500-yard freestyle and Cady added a 6:20.35.
MacDonald paced the Mariners in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 30.54, followed by Marin Griffin (34.41), Cormier (36.80) and Fraga (37.05).
MacDonald also led Maine Maritime in the 100-yard individual medley, finishing with a time of 1:12.02. Metzker (1:14.65), Brewer (1:20.43) and Kate Griffin (1:20.88) also competed in the event.
In the final event of the day, Fraga, Marin Griffin, Cady and Kate Griffin clocked a 1:58.97 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Maine Maritime now travels to Bristol, Rhode Island, on Saturday for the Roger Williams Invitational.
ORONO, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy men’s swimming & diving team went head-to-head with Division I University of Maine on Saturday.
In the opening event of the meet, the Mariners finished fourth and fifth in the 200-yard medley relay. Freshmen Ryan Johnson Rees and Tim Reda, along with juniors Connor Hedstrom and James Creegan, posted a 1:46.82, while sophomore Luis Guillen Barcia, junior Jack Davis, freshman Matthew Levesque and senior Fox Fernald added a time of 1:53.78.
Freshman Dominic Miele led Maine Maritime in the 200-yard individual medley with a fourth-place finish and a time of 2:16.67. Johnson Rees finished fifth (2:25.06), Hedstrom sixth (2:31.97) and Davis seventh (2:48.91).
Reda, sophomore Nate Gibbons, Guillen Barcia and senior Thomas Murray finished fifth through eighth in the 200-yard freestyle, led by Gibbons, who clocked a 1:58.24.
Hedstrom recorded a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.81, while freshman B. Boyer added a 1:00.37, Levesque 1:03.92 and Creegan 1:05.47.
Senior Aidan Burke led the Mariners in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 31.21, while Gibbons clocked a 32.28 and Davis added a 34.65.
Miele swam to a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.81, while Johnson Rees followed in fifth at 1:07.21.
Hedstrom added to his day with a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.16. Creegan posted a 24.68, followed by Fernald (24.87) and Murray (27.20).
Senior Oliver Cox competed in the one-meter diving event, finishing third with a score of 250.80, while sophomore Michael Ordonez placed fifth at 194.63.
Boyer, Johnson Rees, Reda and Creegan all competed for Maine Maritime in the 100-yard freestyle, led by Boyer’s time of 52.82.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Miele clocked a 2:15.89 ahead of Guillen Barcia, who posted a 2:29.00.
Gibbons, Levesque and Hedstrom competed in the 100-yard breaststroke, led by Gibbons’ time of 1:13.62, while Boyer posted a 5:16.33 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Hedstrom recorded a 24.00 in the 50-yard butterfly to finish third, followed by Murray (27.59), Reda (27.60) and Burke (27.86).
Cox and Ordonez also competed in the three-meter diving event, finishing with scores of 233.25 and 145.43, respectively.
Burke led the Mariners in the 100-yard individual medley with a 1:04.23, while Levesque (1:04.71), Guillen Barcia (1:09.39) and Davis (1:14.85) also competed.
Cox, Boyer, Miele and Gibbons posted the top time for the Mariners in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:37.18, while Ordonez, Burke, Hedstrom and Murray added a 1:45.30 to close out the meet.
Next up for the Mariners is the Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday in Bristol, Rhode Island.
