Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Spencer Belbot from Baltimore, Maryland has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Northwestern beginning in fall 2027.
“I’m blessed to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northwestern University! I’m beyond grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead. A special thank you to Coach Paul for believing in me throughout this process and to Coach Rachel for giving me this amazing opportunity. Sko ‘Cats!!”
Belbot swims for North Baltimore Aquatic Club and finished his long course season at Summer Juniors. There he posted a lifetime best in the 400 IM with a 4:33.16 for 49th. His highest finish came in the 400 free as he was 43rd in a 4:01.67.
This fall, he began his junior year at Loyola Blakefield. This past January, he finished 2nd in the 500 free with a 4:32.52 at the National Catholic High School Championships. He also was 6th in the 200 IM with a 1:53.51.
He has had a successful career at the club level, first earning SwimSwam’s Swammy Award back in 2020 as Age Grouper of the Year for the boys 10 and under group back in 2020. In 2023, he was a member of numerous NBAC relays that set National Age Group (NAG) records. Most recently, he attended the 2025 USA Swimming National Select Camp.
Belbot’s Best SCY Times Are:
- 200 free: 1:39.32
- 500 free: 4:30.88
- 200 IM: 1:53.51
- 400 IM: 4:02.12
The Northwestern men finished 7th out of nine teams at the 2025 Big Ten Championships with 711 points. Wisconsin was just ahead of them with 735 points while Minnesota was 5th with 794.5 points.
It took a 1:36.52 in the 200 free, a 4:20.80 in the 500 free, and a 1:45.89 in the 200 IM to earn a second swim at Big Tens. The 200 free was the team’s weakest event this past season as they only scored one point in the event at Big Tens with Josh Staples touching in a 1:38.40 for 24th.
Belbot will arrive in fall 2027 as a member of the class of 2031. He is the first public commitment on the men’s side. His older sister, Maggie Belbot enters her sophomore year this fall with the Wildcats so the two will swim together for one season.

Congrats to Spencer.
Some guy named Luka the 2nd or 3rd runner up for that award back in 2020
