Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Emma Cigna from Warrenton, Virginia has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at NC State beginning in fall 2026. Cigna is a “Best of the Rest” ranked recruit in the girls high school class of 2026.
Cigna swims for Nations Capital Swim Club and finished her long course season at Futures in Greensboro. She swam to two best times with a 2:15.56 in the 200 fly and a 4:21.87 in the 400 free. Her highest finish came in the 400 IM as she swam to 3rd in a 4:52.98.
Earlier in the summer, Cigna swam the 400 IM at US Summer Nationals. She swam to a best time of a 4:56.46 in prelims before posting a 4:51.18 in finals to finish 25th.
She began her senior year this fall at Kettle Run High School in Nokesville, VA. This past March, she swam to numerous Class 3 Virginia High School State titles. She posted a 1:48.88 in the 200 free for the win and was a member of the team’s 200 medley relay that swam to a win. She also posted a 53.66 in the 100 fly for 2nd.
Cigna’s Best SCY Times Are:
- 400 IM: 4:13.89
- 200 back: 1:56.16
- 200 fly: 1:58.15
- 100 fly: 53.66
The NC State women finished 5th out of 15 teams at the 2025 ACC Championships. The team went on to finish 10th at 2025 NCAAs and were led by Leah Shackley and Erika Pelaez, both who just finished their freshman season.
Based on her best times, Cigna already has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level. Her 400 IM time would have made the ACC ‘B’ final this season while her 200 back and 200 fly best times would have made the ‘C’ final. NC State notably only scored 14 points in the 200 fly this past season while they scored 38 in the 400 IM and 77 in the 200 back.
Cigna will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Vera Conic, Zoe Smith, Emerson Callis, and Taylor Schwenk. It is a deep class as Callis is the #6 ranked recruit in the class. Conic is an honorable mention and Smith is another “BOTR” ranked recruit.
