Daria Klepikova Notches 53.14 100 Free Russian Record

2025 World Championships

Day five of the 2025 World Championships saw the semi-finals of the women’s 100m freestyle unfold.

Among the top 8 was Daria Klepikova of Russia, competing as a neutral athlete here, with the 20-year-old nailing a new national record.

Stopping the clock at 53.14, Klepikova captured the 3rd seed heading into tomorrow night’s main event.

Dutch world champion Marrit Steenbergen snagged the top spot in 52.81 while Aussie Olympic champion Mollie O’Callaghan reaped the 2nd slot in 52.82.

As for Klepikova, her outing this evening shaved .22 off her previous Russian standard of 53.36 put on the books at the 2024 Russian Cup.

Tonight, Klepikova opened in 25.72 and closed in 27.42 to put her hat in the ring for a potential medal once those are on the line during night six’s session.

She now ranks 8th in the world this season.

Klepikova already ripped a huge Russian record in the semi-finals of the women’s 100m butterfly. Her time of 56.42 destroyed the previous national benchmark of 57.17 Svetlana Chimrova established at the 2017 Russian Championships.

In that 1fly event, Klepikova settled for 5th place in a final result of 56.63.
