2025 World Championships

Katie Ledecky comes into Singapore in some of the best form of her career, having broken her own World Record back in May in the 800 Free at 8:04.12, and winning three US national titles in June in the 400, 800, and 1500 freestyles. Ledecky has an ideal schedule to bring home even more hardware for the US.

Ledecky’s event lineup and when to watch:

Date Event Round SGT (Singapore Time) EST (US Eastern Time)
Sun, July 27 400 Freestyle Prelims ~10:00 am ~10:00 pm (July 26)
Sun, July 27 400 Freestyle Finals ~7:00 pm ~7:00 am
Mon, July 28 1500 Freestyle Prelims ~10:00 am ~10:00 pm (July 27)
Tues, July 29 1500 Freestyle Finals ~7:00 pm ~7:00 am
Thurs, July 31 4×200 Freestyle Relay Finals ~7:00 pm ~7:00 am
Fri, August 1 800 Freestyle Prelims ~10:00 am
~10:00 pm (July 31)
Sat, August 2 800 Freestyle Finals ~7:00 pm ~7:00 am

Ledecky’s championships will kick off with another chapter in the Summer McIntosh and Katie Ledecky rivalry. McIntosh has the advantage over Ledecky in the 400 free by over two and a half seconds, but with McIntosh likely having the 200 IM semifinals in the same session, Ledecky will have the green light to give it everything she has to try and take down the top-seeded Canadian.

Ledecky will be looking to hold off Summer McIntosh in the 800 freestyle. It looks like a two-woman race in the event, with Ledecky’s world record from Ft. Lauderdale potentially in danger.

Rounding out the individual slate for Ledecky will be the 1500 Freestyle, where she is seeded over 14 seconds ahead of 2nd seed Lani Pallister of Australia.

The favorable layout of events bodes well for the 21-time World Champion. With no sessions overlapping events, Ledecky will have the ability to focus strictly on each of her races, without the thought of another looming throughout these 2025 World Championships.

If Summer swims it it’s gotta be one of the greatest h2h matchups of all time. Only other ones I can think of with swimmers of that caliber are Phelps vs Lochte, and Phelps vs Thorpe

Don’t forget Hoogenband who got the silver behind Thorpe!

We’ve had a bunch of epic women’s back races. Two fastest women ever racing over and over

Except that it became tedious because the winner was consistently 1 swimmer.

But imagine that tension stretched over 8 minutes.
