An already good winter season got even better for Florida teenager and LAKR Swim Club’s Reef McMeeking earlier this month.

In February, the 14-year-old McMeeking swam a time of 1:04.19 at the Southern Zone South Sectional Championships, a long course event, to earn his first winter and summer cut nationally.

Then at the Florida Spring Age Group Championships, a short course event, McMeeking won five individual events and ended up taking home 10 gold medals after being a part of five winning relay teams in the 13-14 age group.

In each of his five individual victories, McMeeking set personal best times.

He won the 100 backstroke in a time of 52.42, the 200 individual medley in a time of 1:51.55, the 50 breaststroke in 26.44, the 100 breast in a time of 56.90 and the 200 breast in 2:03.58.

McMeeking also set a personal best time of 22.11 in the 50 free during a leadoff leg on the 200 free relay team.
