ROCK ISLAND — The Augustana Vikings men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams each earned a pair of wins over the Coe Kohawks and Monmouth Fighting Scots on Saturday. The men defeated Monmouth 190-25 and Coe 186-24, while the women grabbed a 169-51 victory over Monmouth and a 176-46 win over Coe.
“Today was a great day for our team to finish out our home schedule,” said head coach Dan Lloyd. “We had a great two weeks of extremely hard training coming off of Christmas break. We are ready to continue to attack the rest of the season on the road as we focus on our ultimate goal which is racing at peak performance at conference.”
In the women’s 200-yard medley relay, the team of Hailey Glasnovich, Livy Sholl, Mara Walker, and Petra Evans earned first with a time of 1:54.43, nearly four seconds faster than second place. Giselle Koonce, Caitlin Stoddard, Kylee Blaha, and Kendle Mihm won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.78.
In individual events, Brooke Walker was the champion of the 1,000-yard freestyle by nearly 17 seconds with a mark of 11:22.05, while Koonce led a group of three Vikings in the top three in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.58. B. Walker also clocked a time of 5:29.86 to finish first in the 500-yard freestyle. The Vikings also saw the top three placements in the 50-yard freestyle, with Mihm leading the way with a time of 25.03 to take first. M. Walker was the winner in the 200 IM, ending with a time of 2:15.16 to finish in front of two other Vikings in second and third. M. Walker also won the 100 fly with a final time of 1:01.98.
In diving events, Kate Kucera claimed first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 167.50. Kucera also scored 146.70 in the 3-meter to take that event as well.
On the men’s side, Gavin McCorry, Matthew Meyer, Kacper Cebula, and Bjorn Sievert were triumphant in the 200 medley relay after clocking a time of 1:37.18, three seconds ahead of their teammates in second. Tyler Leslie, Lucas Rettig, Trentin Lechleitner, and Oskar Bannister grabbed the win in the 200 free relay at 1:27.04.
In individual races, Carter Lavold secured the win in the 1,000 with a time of 10:18.69, good for 12 seconds faster than second place. In the 200 freestyle, the Vikings took the top four spots, led by Mark Addison in first at 1:45.26. Bannister led the charge in the 50 free with a first-place time of 21.71, with five other Vikings making up the next six spots. Bannister also conquered the 100 free at 48.36. Augie secured the top seven in the 200 IM as Leslie finished in first with a mark of 1:54.56. He also was the champion of the 100-yard butterfly after clocking 50.94. McCorry was the winner in the 100-yard backstroke after notching 54.43. Meyer led a group of four Augie freshman in the top four in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:57.70, while Cebula won the 100 breast in unde a minute at 58.61.
In diving, Johnny Breeden won the 1-meter with a score of 107.15.
The Augie men improve to 5-1 with the win, while the women are now 6-0. The two teams will be back in action January 17-19 at the Grinnell Invitational.

The Monmouth College swim teams returned to action on Saturday for the first time since November as they faced Augustana and Coe in Rock Island, Illinois. The Scots swept Coe (80-77 men and 99-94 women) but lost both to Augustana (190-25 men and 169-51 women).
WOMEN
Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.97. Allie Warren (Galesburg, Illinois) was second in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:12.34. She was fourth in the 200 yard IM in 2:25.00
Caitlyn Stewart (Monmouth, Illinois) finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:49.92. She was also fifth in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:06.78.
Addie Smith (Monmouth, Illinois) took third in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:00.59 while Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois) was fifth in 6:13.54. Smith was also fifth in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:21.27.
Claire LaBadie (Griffith, Indiana) was fifth in the 100 yard freestyle in 1:08.33.
The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Tate, Aiden Bach (Stetsonville, Wisconsin), Smith and Fitch finished second in 1:51.63. The 200 yard medley relay team of Tate, Warren Stewart and LaBadie finished third in 1:59.77.
MEN
Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) was fifth in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:59.49. Kody Coyne (Bluffton, Indiana) scored in fifth place in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:05.89. Jaeden Peters (Greenfield, Indiana) was fifth in the 1000 yard freestyle in 12:29.41
The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Foster, Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois), Jordan Bridgford (Kapolei, Hawai’i) and Bucket Youvan (Rochester, Indiana) finished third in 1:35.97. The 200 yard medley relay team of Foster, Coyne, Bridgford and Youman took fifth in 1:46.26.
The Scots are back in action at home on Friday against Beloit at 4 p.m.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Coe College men’s swimming and diving team competed in a non-conference triangular meet on Saturday afternoon, taking on Augustana and Monmouth. Kamen Rangelov led the men with a pair of second-place finishes, earning runner-up in the 50 Free and 100 Breast with marks of 21.91 and 58.82. Joshua Yi and Maxwell Deacon rounded out the top finishes for the Kohawk men in the triangular, placing fourth and fifth respectively in the 1000 Free and 100 Fly.
