CLARION, Pa. — The Golden Eagles women’s diving team took on Duquesne in an exhibition on Saturday afternoon, with Clarion’s top two “teams” outpacing the Dukes’ squads in Tippin Natatorium. The team of Katie Madigan, Luna Castellanos and Colleen Hudson scored 271.35 in the six-dive team event, while the duo of Alexa Gonczi and Taelyn Thomas took second with a 257.11.
Alexa Gonczi led the way for the divers in the 1-Meter Dive, scoring a 242.7 in the event to pace the field. Katie Madigan was third with a score of 231.0 and Luna Castellanos was just behind her, scoring 227.48 in the 1-Meter Dive. Thomas scored a 209.76 while Hudson scored 199.73.
Gonczi took second in the 3-Meter Dive, scoring a 278.03. That was just a handful of points ahead of her teammates Castellanos and Madigan, who placed third (272.63) and fourth (270.68) respectively. Hudson was just behind that pack, placing sixth with a 237.15, while Thomas posted a score of 223.43.

Clarion, Pa. – The Duquesne University diving team traveled to Clarion this afternoon to battle the Golden Eagles inside Waldo S. Tippin Natatorium.
Six Dukes competed in the three-meter and one-meter dives, led by junior Ashley Felitsky. In the three-meter, Felitsky took the top spot while putting together six dives that qualifies for the NCAA Diving Zones with a score of 288.08. It’s the first season the junior has qualified with a zone cut in the three-meter and the fourth time overall. Felitsky has qualified for the diving zones three straight times in the one-meter dive, including earlier this season when you she qualified against Marshall with a score of 275.33.
Classmate Kendall Nigh competed in the three-meter diver, compiling a final score of 239.1 while freshmen Brianne Dempsey (223.05) and Josie Festa (214.65) and sophomores Lydia Redd (205.95) and Erin Castagnero (178.2) rounded out the rankings for the Dukes.
In the one-meter, Feltisky paced Duquesne with a second-place finish by posting a final score of 236.55. Redd secured the fourth position for the Dukes by finishing with a score of 225.68 while Duquesne ended fifth through eighth in the final scores. Dempsey (214.43), Nigh (208.13), Festa (207.00), and Castagnero (204.45) rounded out the scoring for the Dukes.
“I’m extremely proud of Ashley for her zone qualifying score,” diving coach Jeff Brown said. “She has worked so hard to increase her difficulty on 3m and it paid off today.”

Duquesne is idle for a week before they travel to Morgantown, W.Va., to take part in the WVU Diving Invite on Thursday, Nov. 21 and Friday, Nov. 22.
