Day 2 of the 2024 Spanish Swimming Championships unfolded from Mallorca tonight with a few notable performances taking place during the finals.

Although she missed the 1:06.79 World Aquatics Olympic Qualification Time of 1:06.69, Jessica Vall earned gold in the women’s 100m breaststroke.

The 35-year-old clocked a time of 1:07.94 to get to the wall first, beating the field by over half a second.

The men’s 100m breast saw Carles Marti notch gold in a result of 1:00.63, beating runner-up Dawid Wiekiera by over half a second. Wiekiera settled for silver in 1:01.18.

Cesar Castro clocked a time of 1:46.51 en route to grabbing gold in the men’s 200m free.

Opening in 50.78 and closing in 30.74, Castro logged the 2nd fastest time of his career. His performance this evening sits only behind his personal best of 1:46.46 established in February of this year.

His result fell painstakingly shy of the World Aquatics Olympic Qualification Time of 1:46.26 needed to earn a berth for this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris, France.
