After having broken her own Polish national record in the women’s 100m free less than 24 hours ago, Polish Olympian Kasia Wasick lowered the mark once again in tonight’s final.
While competing on day 3 of the 2019 European Short Course Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, Wasick touched the wall in a time of 52.54, hacking .27 off of her newly-minted national standard of 52.81 from last night. Her 52.54 record from tonight’s final saw her place 7th overall.
Splits from her semi-final swim included 25.34/27.47, while her swim this evening was comprised of 25.26/27.28, showing she was especially faster on the way home comparatively.
The women’s 100m freestyle winner tonight was Freya Anderson of Great Britain, with the teen clocking a winning effort of 51.49, a huge new personal best. Silver went to French speedster Beryl Gastaldello in a mark of 51.85.
Of note, Wasick is also the national record holder in the long course version of both the 50 free (24.73) and the 100 free (54.22), with both of those times coming from this summer’s national championships.
