Kara Church from Scottsdale, Arizona has verbally committed to Kansas. Church is a high school senior and is expected to arrive on campus at Kansas in the fall of 2020.

️She was the Arizona Division I (big schools) runner-up last weekend in both the 200 free (1:48.67) and 500 free (4:55.90). While that time in the 500 was about 6 seconds slower than her best, her 200 free swim showed off some new speed for her – it was two-and-a-half seconds faster than her previous best time in that race.

- 100 free – 53.83
- 200 free – 1:48.67
- 500 free – 4:49.06
- 1000 free – 10:19.40
- 1650 free – 17:04.81
While no school in the Big 12 is any real threat of challenging Texas’ dominance at the top of the conference any time soon, in a heated and competitive battle for 2nd place, Kansas has done well by piling up points in the distance freestyles. The Jayhawks went 3-4-6-7 in the mile last year at the Big 12 Conference Championship meet, which earned them 56 points. That was a big boost en route to a 2nd-place finish at that meet last year. Church already has times within A-final range in both the 200 and 500 yard freestyles, and is close to a top 8 time in the 1650 as well.
Church trains with the Scottsdale Aquatic Club in suburban Phoenix, Arizona and attends Liberty High School.
