Israel’s Andrea Murez picked up her second gold in as many days at the Maccabiah Games in Israel, posting a time of 1:59.80 in the women’s 200 freestyle. This comes after the Stanford graduate won the 100 free on day 1 in 55.15. She now owns seven Maccabiah gold medals after winning five in 2013.
Amercian Tasija Karosas, who won the 200 back on day 1, won silver in 2:03.41.
Overall Israel performed very well on day 2, earning five of the six wins including three 1-2 finishes. Amit Ivry (59.37) and Keren Siebner (1:00.01) took gold and silver in the women’s 100 fly, Marcus Schlesinger (54.42) and Alon Shami (54.45) followed suit in the men’s event, and Denis Loktev (1:49.31) and Shami (1:51.49) went 1-2 in the men’s 200 free.
Kelly Fertel got the lone win for the Americans, dominating the women’s 400 IM in 4:45.54. Jessica Antiles (4:58.27) made it a 1-2 for the U.S.
The men’s 400 IM saw Israel’s Etay Gurevich, who won the 200 fly on day 1, add another win in a time of 4:21.31. American Andrew Winton (4:23.85) took silver.
