A retired teacher and high school swimming & diving official in New York was arrested and charged with distributing, receiving and possessing child pornography.
71-year-old Thomas Albright was arrested this week, and law enforcement officials say he confessed to downloading and collecting pornographic images of minors. Albright was a teacher in the Marlboro school district from September of 1970 until June of 2002, according to the Times Herald-Record. The same report says Albright was serving as an official for high school swimming & diving meets in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association.
The OCIAA says it has removed Albright from officiating any future swim meets and has placed him on “restricted” status.
The Times Herald-Record report says undercover FBI agents and other law enforcement officers got a search warrant and then searched Albright’s home. The officers discovered that “Albright had numerous images and video files depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit activity, which he kept on a public peer-to-peer file sharing network,” per the report.
If convicted, Albright will face a minimum of 5 years in prison and a maximum of 20. He would also have to register as a sex offender.
