Delaware HS Champion Marie Dickson Verbally Commits to Michigan State

Marie Dickson of Delaware Swim Team and Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, Delaware, has made a verbal commitment to swim for Michigan State University beginning with the 2017-18 season. Dickson is primarily a backstroker/butterflier who has a strong IM as well.

During the 2015-16 high school season she led the Ursuline Raiders to their first Delaware state title since 1987. Dickson contributed a win in the 200 IM (2:06.71) and a second-place finish in the 100 fly (56.73), as well as legs on Ursuline’s winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays (she led off the former in 27.40 and the latter in 54.96).

Dickson earned best times over the summer in the 100/200m back, 100/200m free, and 200/400m IM. She closed out the long course season by finaling in the 400m IM at NCSA Summer Swimming Championships.

  • 200 back: 2:03.78
  • 200 IM: 2:06.54
  • 400 IM: 4:28.35

Dickson will join Olivia Chick, who has also verbally committed to Michigan State’s class of 2021.
