NY Distance Freestyler Lindsay Stone Verbally Commits to Notre Dame

Pittsford, New York-native Lindsay Stone has verbally committed to swim for the Fighting Irish at the University of Notre Dame, beginning in the fall of 2017.

“I never planned to verbally commit early but I quickly realized I could not imagine myself as an athlete anywhere other than Notre Dame. The resources available to athletes both in the classroom and pool are unmatched which along with hard work account for their successes. Mike Litzinger and his coaching staff have plans of excellence for this team that I cannot wait be a part of. The team has already made me feel like family and I look forward to training with them next year.”

Stone is a senior at Pittsford-Sutherland High School, for whom she has swum since the 7th grade. She is a 9-time state champion, including a 3-time NY State 500 free champion. She also swims for PACK Swim Team of Pittsford, and was selected to attend USA Swimming’s National Select Camp and Open Water Select Camp. Her best times include:

  SCY LCM
100 free 51.49 59.66
200 free 1:48.29 2:04.57
500/400 free 4:48.04 4:18.87
1000/800 free 9:50.74 8:45.81
1650/1500 free 16:20.00 16:45.32

Stone’s times would have scored in the C finals of the 200 and 500 freestyle events, and would have placed her right on the A/B-final border, at the 2016 ACC Championships. Stone will join fellow-commit Cailey Grunhard.
