The usual exodus on the final day of meet didn’t happen at Winter Nationals in Federal Way. Every single championship and consolation finalist in the men’s events, and all but one in the women’s, is expected to show up to his or her appointed lane in the final session tonight.

The one exception is Aggie Swim Club’s Sarah Henry, who qualified 13th in the women’s 200 breaststroke with 2:31.48. Henry is also seeded second in the 800m freestyle, which swims in finals tonight.

Top-seeded Michael Phelps of North Baltimore will be on hand to contest the final of the men’s 200 fly; he will race against his training partner, Chase Kalisz. Missy Franklin of Colorado Stars will have another tough double tonight, as she attempts to win back-to-back events: 200 back and 100 free. The women’s 200 back is a particularly talented final, featuring Canada’s Hilary Caldwell, Elizabeth Beisel of Bluefish, Cal’s Elizabeth Pelton, and Stanford Swimming’s Maya DiRado in addition to Franklin.

The men’s 100 free will be an exciting final as well, with Cal’s Nathan Adrian swimming in front of his home crowd, Vlad Morozov and Conor Dwyer of Trojan Swim Club, Josh Schneider of NYAC, Santo Condorelli of Canyons, up-and-coming Maxime Rooney of Pleasanton, Yuri Kisil of British Columbia, and Alabama’s Kristian Gkolomeev.

Also of note in tonight’s final session is 13-year-old Ethan Dang of King Aquatic Club, who went a best time in the 200 breast and made the C final. Ranked fourth on the all-time list for 13-14 boys, Dang will be going for his first Olympic Trials cut.
