Hannah Denison of Poseidon Swimming Inc. in Richmond, Virginia has committed to swim for George Mason University beginning in the 2015-16 season. Denison had a stellar season last year, shaving several seconds off of her main events, including an astounding 6 second drop in her 200y free. Although this is only Denison’s third season in competitive swimming, she has continued to make waves, already posting lifetime bests in the 50y free, 200y free and 100y fly. Denison has also secured herself two NCSA Junior National Cuts in the 100y free and 100y fly, along with a bonus cut in the 50y free. Her top times are:
100 fly – 56.79
100 free – 52.27
50 free – 24.59
200 free – 1:55.71
Denison will impact the team at George Mason immediately, providing a boost to their sprint free and fly group, along with their relays. With her current 100 fly time, she would have made the B finals of their 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. Denison’s impressive time progressions despite being so new to the sport definitely provide the Mason coaches with a vote of confidence, and they feel she will have a “huge upside” on joining the team.
