A West Hills, Pa., swim coach has been temporarily suspended by the U.S. Center for SafeSport over allegations of misconduct.
Jeffrey Berghoff, who works as the head coach at Moon Area High School and Tiger Aquatics, was issued the suspension on June 29.
The details of what the suspension stems from are unknown.
The West Hills Gazette reports that Moon Area High School rehired Berghoff for the 2026-27 school year, according to the minutes from a May 11 Moon Area School District board of trustees meeting.
The Moon Area School District said it is investigating the matter in a statement issued to local outlet Channel 11.
“At Moon Area School District, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority,” they said in the statement.
“We are aware of the matter and are actively investigating it in accordance with our established district procedures. Because this is a personnel matter, we are unable to provide additional information or comment further at this time.”
The Moon Area High School athletic director and the Moon Area School District superintendent told The West Hills Gazette that they don’t comment on personnel matters. Tiger Aquatics president Dave McCowin also had no comment on the matter when contacted by the West Hills Gazette.
Berghoff has been removed from coaches page on the Tiger Aquatics website, though the page outlining the club’s SafeSport procedure still says he’s the head coach and a primary contact for anyone with concerns.
