Seven first-place finishes and six personal bests made for a great pre-July 4 meet for 12-year-old Tessa Jeltema.
Swimming for the TAC Titans, Jeltema set personal best times to win the 100 free (1;02.58), 200 free (2:13.59), 400 free (4:43.26), 100 breast (1:16.60), 200 breast (2:41.77) and the 200 IM (2:31.54).
Jeltema also won the 50 free in a time of 28.78 to round out her first-place finishes.
Other individual standouts at the meet were:
- Blakely Hammel, a 17-year-old for Episcopal Amber Jax and a Florida commit, captured two events in the girls’ competition, claiming the 200 free in 2:02.47 and the 400 free in 4:21.41. She was also 2nd in both the 50 free (26.59) and the 100 free (58.10).
- Also in the girls’ competition, 17-year-old Grace Pereira of the Raleigh Swimming Association won four events, three of which came in personal best times. Pereira swam personal bests in the 100 breast (1:12.55), 200 IM (2:21.51) and the 400 IM (5:02.06), and also won the 200 breast (2:36.47).
- In the boys’ competition, 16-year-old Lincoln Driesse of Planet Swim Aquatics won three events in personal best times, taking the 100 free (53.27), 200 free (1:54.00) and the 1500 free (15:51.47).
- Also in the boys’ event, 17-year-old Luke Zardavets, a Florida commit, won the 100 breast (1:04.94) and the 200 breast (2:28.05).
- Jenna Frost, a 17-year-old for Planet Swim Aquatics who has committed to Ohio State, won the 100 free in 58.49 and was 2nd in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.57 during the girls’ competition. In the prelims of the 100 fly, Frost clocked a time of 1:03.50. She didn’t compete in the finals.
- Bennett Rotramel, a 14-year-old for Planet Swim Aquatics, won the 50 free (24.94) and 100 free (53.78) during the boys’ event in personal best times, and also claimed the 200 free in 2:00.19.
