2x California HS State Champ Khanh Seaton (2027) Decommits from Michigan, Verbals to Cal

Khanh Seaton, a rising senior at Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, California, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of California, Berkeley, beginning in the 2027-28 school year. Seaton had originally pledged to swim and study at the University of Michigan.

Seaton made the announcement on social media, writing:

Seaton is coming off a big junior year high school season. At the North Coast Section Championships, she won the 50 free and 100 free with PBs of 22.02 and 48.58, respectively. She also led off the medley relay with a 25.40 backstroke and split 21.83 on the 4×50 free relay. The following weekend, she won the 50 free (22.22) and 100 free (48.22) at the CIF State Championships, lowering her newly-minted PB in the 100 by another .36.

The sprint specialist who trains with Albany Armada Aquatics, has been on an absolute tear over the last year. At the end of the summer of 2025, Seaton was a Futures qualifier in the 50/100 free, 100 back, and 200 IM. She’d begun the 2024-25 short-course season with PBs in the 50 free (24.00), 200 back (2:14.08), 100 breast (1:16.55), 200 breast (2:45.93), and 200 IM (2:17.37). A week later, she broke 24 seconds for the first time in the 50 free (23.93), improved her 100 breast by 1.9 (1:14.62), and hit a PB of 1:06.29 in the 100 fly. By the end of the season, she had chipped away at her times in all her events, eventually dropping to 23.34 in the 50 free, 50.84 in the 100 free, 56.82 in the 100 back, 1:07.92 in the 100 breast, 57.26 in the 100 fly, and 2:06.22 in the 200 IM.

A year later, she now owns PBs of:

• 50 free – 22.02
• 100 free – 48.22
• 50 back – 25.15
• 100 back – 55.32
• 50 fly – 24.47
• 100 fly – 54.80
• 200 IM – 2:04.00

Seaton will join Mia Su, Alba Arnall, and Sum Yiu Li in the Golden Bears’ class of 2031.
