Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Junior Nationals qualifier Jack Martin has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of North Carolina beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and acedemic career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! I would like to thank my family, friends, and teammates for supporting me through this journey so far, as well as my coaches for getting me to where I am today. Thank you to Coach Mark, and the coaching staff at UNC for this amazing opportunity. GO HEELS!!!
A junior at Myers Park High School in North Carolina, Martin has competed for the school’s swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also currently trains year-round with SwimMAC Carolina, where he specializes in breaststroke and IM.
Over the course of the 2025-26 short course season, Martin dropped nearly five seconds in the 200 breast, two and a half seconds in the 100 breast, and a second and a half in the 200 IM. Entering the season with times of 56.92/2:03.11 in the 100/200 breast and 1:51.18 in the 200 IM, he ended it with his current PBs at Speedo Sectionals – St. Mary’s City in March by placing second in the 200 IM (1:49.70), third in the 200 breast (1:58.36), and fourth in the 100 breast (54.56).
On the high school scene, Martin has qualified for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) State Championships each year of his career so far. This season, he made his first individual finals and won his first-ever state titles: helping Myers Park win both the 200 medley relay (25.37 breast split) and 400 free relay (46.29 split), taking bronze in the 100 breast (55.67), and finishing fifth in the 200 IM (1:52.94).
Martin has also qualified and competed at both Winter Juniors and Summer Junior Nationals.
Top SCY Times:
- 100 Breaststroke: 54.56
- 200 Breaststroke: 1:58.36
- 200 IM: 1:49.70
A Division I program, North Carolina competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference, with the men’s team taking eighth out of 14 teams at this past season’s conference championships. To earn a second swim at the meet, it took times of 52.95/1:56.17 in the 100/200 breast and 1:44.99 in the 200 IM, putting Martin’s current best times outside the cutoffs. Given he still has two full seasons of training to go before his first conference meet, paired with his improvement curve, he could make a scoring impact in year one.
Martin joins Isaac Adanin and Hampton Stuecker in committing to the Tar Heels’ class of 2031 so far.

The question would be: who’s coaching him? UNC is facing a massive challenge in filling out its coaching staff. It will be a brand new staff, other than Mark.
So much for academics….
