On the final night of competition at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale Open, Gretchen Walsh blew away the competition, clocking a 54.33 100 fly to break her own world record by over two tenths of a second. After the race, Walsh said she felt good in warm-up but hadn’t put any pressure on herself to perform in world-record fashion at this meet, which helped her swim the race relaxed and confident.

Does she get a WR bonus?
once she figures out how to do fly efficiently, I think she will have a shot at swimming
I’m Australian, why am I plotting this relay?😂 but an LA 57.1 Regan, a who knows brst, a 53 point Big G, and a who knows 51.7 free.
57 low Regan, 1:04 low KD, 53 high GW, 51 mid Torri? Holy moly. That would stand for years, probably only broken by themselves.

Come on, folks! Lighten up and let the lady enjoy the moment. It was a fabulous swim! She’s a gracious winner. Katie L, Summer M, Gretchen W, Regan S, and several others are all great competitors and all deserve credit for their accomplishments. They are all deserving of our admiration!
Just a machine. Nobody within a football field of her.
You are a bad a$$. On that we can agree.
