Ariarne Titmus Takes Reporter Role with Seven News for Upcoming Commonwealth Games

Continuing her trend of recent exposure since her retirement from swimming, Australian Olympic Champion Ariarne Titmus will be around the pool deck at this year’s Commonwealth Games, having taken a role with Australia’s Channel Seven as a mixed zone reporter, conducting post-race interviews with athletes.

“It’s going to be great to be on [the] pool deck. It’s actually my first international meet where I’ll be on [the] pool deck cheering, but also speaking to the athletes after their races. So I’m really looking forward to it.” Titmus said in an interview with Seven News. “I said to a few of the guys, there’s no worse looking person than a swimmer post-race, goggle marks, wet hair, puffing. And now I’m on the other side, so I’m feeling good about that.”

Titmus trades the goggles and medals for an opportunity to share the stories of her fellow athletes, and she mentioned that she is “passionate about having this role.”

“I’m really content in my life, and I’m actually feeling quite passionate about having this role, allowing the athletes to tell their stories.” Titmus said. “They’re going to see a familiar face, but more than anything, I’m a swimming fan. And so I feel really pumped that I’m going to be right there on pool deck getting to cheer our Aussies on.”

Titmus is a seven-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, with a decorated career that includes four Olympic Golds and six world championship titles.

“During my career, I had so much respect for the mixed zone reporters that we regularly met with post-race, including Nathan Templeton, Giaan Rooney and so many more. To have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps for such an important international event is very exciting,” Titmus said in an interview with Seven News. The Commonwealth Games mean so much to the athletes competing and I cannot wait to be on deck to deliver more incredible historic moments from the pool, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.”

Titmus will also be appearing on the Australian show SHARK!, where she will face her biggest fear, sharks, in several high-pressure and up close encounters in the shark-filled Bahamian waters.

No, she was commentating. Kate was the one poolside.

Interesting, has got gigs across different TV networks. Definitely in demand and is probably still best known swimmer to general public.

I’d expect to see her back on Ch9 as they likely will telecast all (most) swimming events until Brisbane 2032.

She seems less awkward than Giaan so let’s see how she goes.

She can’t possibly be worse than what we typically have so I’m at least willing to give it a shot.

She was okay at short course world championships in 2022. (she commentated and did not compete)
