Judging by his performances in March, Florida commit Liam Smith certainly seems ready for college swimming.
First, Smith won two state titles at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state meet on March 14, bringing his career total to seven. He won his fourth straight title in the 100 fly (47.80) and set a new Division 3 state meet record to win the 200 IM in a time of 1:47.38.
Two weeks later, Smith won five events and set four personal bests swimming for the Greater Kalamazoo Crocs at the Michigan UTRA Championships held at Oakland University.
The meet allows high school-aged swimmers a chance to compete in additional events that they normally can’t during high school season.
Smith set personal bests to win the 500 free (4:27.21), 200 back (1:44.74), 200 IM (1:46.23) and 400 IM (3:48.57), while also claiming the title in the 200 fly (1:44.23).
In the team competition, Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics swept the boys and girls team titles.
