4x Washington High School Champion Ava Swigart Announces Commitment to Nevada for 2026-27

Ava Swigart, a senior at Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Nevada, Reno, for the fall of 2026. She wrote on social media:

“I am incredibly excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Nevada-Reno! Huge thanks to my family, friends, and coaches for their never-ending support. Thank you to the UNR family for helping me find my home. GO PACK! 🐺💙”

In high school swimming, she is a 3-time Washington High School 4A State Champion in the 500 free, having won in 2023 (5:02.63, a PB), 2024 (5:01.23, a PB), and 2025 (4:57.48, a PB). She also competed in the 200 free, winning the event as a sophomore in 2023 (1:51.82, a PB), placing 3rd in 2024 (1:51.22, a PB), and coming in 2nd this year (1:49.51, a PB).

Swigart swims year-round with the Spokane Waves Aquatic Team. Last spring, she updated her SCY times in the 50/100 back, 50/100 breast, and 50 fly at the Inland Empire Short Course Championships, winning the 50 fly and 1000 free and finishing 2nd in the 50 back, 3rd in the 100 back, 4th in the 50 breast, and 9th in the 100 breast. Two weeks later, at Boise Sectionals, she added PBs I the 100 free and 100 fly and finaled in the 50 free (22nd), 100 free (13th), 200 free (8th), and 500 free (5th).

In long-course season, Swigart achieved personal bests in the 200 free (2:11.18), 400 free (4:36.25), and 200 IM (2:33.45) at Mt. Hood Sectionals, where she placed 29th in the 400 free and 30th in the 200 free in finals. She wrapped up the summer at the Inland Empire Long Course Championships, winning the 100 free and 200 free, and placing 2nd in the 100 fly (a PB of 1:06.31 in prelims), and 7th in the 100 back (PB of 1:13.04 in prelims).

Swigart serves as an athlete representative for Inland Empire Swimming, focusing her efforts on increasing the accessibility of swimming to under-resourced communities. She will join Hayden Young and Anna Schulz on the Wolf Pack roster in the fall of 2026.
