Through the 3rd day of the 2026 Horizon League Championships, 12x defending champions Oakland is in the lead in both the men’s and women’s standings.

Milwaukee sophomore Maddi Hayashi kicked the session off with a win in the women’s 100 fly. Hayashi clocked a 54.88, finishing well ahead of Youngstown State freshman Orla MacInnes, who came in 2nd with a 55.53.

Following his big win in the 50 free on Thursday, IU Indy’s Yassin Abdelghany won the men’s 100 fly in decisive fashion, stopping the clock in 45.23. With the performance, Abdelghany broke the Horizon League conference record, and added a 2nd event to his NCAA Championship schedule.

Oakland sophomore Kelley Hassett took the women’s 400 IM in 4:22.11, finishing just off her career best of 4:20.87, which was set at last year’s Horizon League Championships. Hassett was excellent on the back half of the race, splitting 1:15.26 on breaststroke and 59.57 on free.

The Golden Grizzlies made it a sweep of the 400 IM’s, with freshman Cooper Dillman winning the men’s 400 IM in 3:48.10. It was a huge swim for Dillman, blowing away his previous career best of 3:53.72, which was swum back in December.

Youngstown State sophomore Olivia Sweetman took the women’s 200 free in 1:48.65, marking her first time under 1:50 in the event.

Oakland’s Harry Nicholson, a senior, won the men’s 200 free in 1:34.12, marking a new Horizon League record in the event. Nicholson was just off qualifying for NCAAs, as he won the conference title and was just a hair off the NCAA qualifying time of 1:33.93.

In the women’s 100 breast, Milwaukee senior Gabrielle LePine stopped the clock in 1:01.68, earning the Horizon League title in the event. It was a dominant win, as LePine was nearly 2 seconds ahead of the field.

Oakland senior Chris Palvadre popped a 52.20 to win the men’s 100 breast, punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships in the process. Palvadre was under the NCAA qualifying time of 52.58.

Oakland’s Lydia Soldatke, a freshman, won the women’s 100 back in 53.89. Soldatke was just off her career best of 53.56, which she swam back in December.

Milwaukee’s Sam Lorenz took the men’s 100 back in 45.81, breaking yet another Horizon League conference record. Additionally, Lorenz earned an invite to the NCAA Championships, as he was well under the 46.29 NCAA qualifying time.

The Milwaukee quartet of Mara Freeman (55.17), LePine (1:01.56), Hayashi (54.58), and Christiana Brooks (49.95) teamed up to win the women’s 400 IM in 3:41.26.

Oakland took the men’s 400 medley relay in 3:06.92. Ajjuub Ezzat (46.93), Palvadre (51.44), Micah Scheffer (46.35), and Nicholson (42.20) combined to earn the win, breaking the Horizon League conference record in the process.

The diving event of the day was women’s 1-meter, which Ellie Seiter, a Cleveland State sophomore, won with a score of 294.35.
