Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Micah Tennison, a high school junior from Spring, Texas, has made a verbal commitment to Texas A&M University for the 2027-28 school year. He confirmed in writing to SwimSwam:
“I am extremely excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic careers at Texas A&M University! I want to thank Coach Blaire and the entire coaching staff at A&M for giving me this amazing opportunity. I would also like to thank Coach Ross and Coach Laura for coaching and supporting me through all my ups and downs in this sport. Finally and most importantly I would like to thank my parents and family for all the love and support they have given me throughout this whole process. The work has only just begun. GIG ‘EM”
Tennison swims for Oak Ridge High School and Swim Streamline at Northampton. A freestyle specialist with a sweet spot in the 100/200 range, we ranked among the “Best of the Rest” sprinters on our Way Too Early list of top boys’ swimming recruits from the high school class of 2027.
In high school swimming, the then-sophomore finished 7th in the 200 free (1:38.34) and 8th in the 500 free (4:31.65) at the 2025 Texas UIL 6A State Championships. Two months earlier, he had gone best times in the 100 free (44.73) and 500 free (4:26.16) at Winter Juniors West. At NCSA Spring Swimming Championships, he lowered his 100 free time to 44.49 and added a pair of PBs in the 200 IM (1:52.86) and 400 IM (4:04.77).
Tennison got his long-course season off to a good start at the Texas Senior Circuit Long Course Meet #2 at the beginning of June, notching lifetime bests in the 50 free (24.17), 100 free (51.70), and 200 IM (2:11.21). He wrapped up with PBs in the 100 free (51.03), 200 free (1:50.39), 400 free (3:58.367), and 200 IM (2:09.55) at Justin Futures where, most notably, he won the 200 free and was runner-up in the 100 free and 400 free. He also placed 4th in the 200 IM, 13th in the 100 fly, and 15th in the 50 free.
Best SCY times:
- 50 free – 20.70
- 100 free – 44.40
- 200 free – 1:37.43
- 500 free – 4:26.16
Tennison will join the Aggies’ class of 2031 with Alex Barone, Jackson Irwin, Nate Sherrard, Parker Knapp, and Quinn Caputo. With almost two years left before he arrives in College Station, he is just off what it took to score in the sprint free events (19.53/42.75/1:34.99) at the 2025 SEC Championships.
