Day 2 Prelims Heat Sheet

The individual swimming events begin in earnest this morning at the prelim session of the 2nd day of the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships. While most of the top seeds remained intact for the 500 free and 200 IM, the 50 free saw two swimmers seeded amongst the top eight withdraw from the event.

ASU’s Gerda Szilagyi, a senior, and Julia Ullmann, a sophomore, appeared on the psych sheet as the 6th and 7th seeds, respectively, with entry times of 22.53 and 22.56, but neither is slated to appear in this morning’s splash and dash. Szilagyi, a Hungarian, who did not compete with the team last yea,r is still entered in the 100/200 free and 100/200 back. Ullmann, who finished 3rd in this event at the last edition of this meet, has opted instead to take on the 200 IM this morning, where she ranks 74th out of 75 entrants, as she appears with the NT designation.

The highest-seeded scratch on the men’s side was also an ASU swimmer, as the 11th-seeded Seth Crow, a freshman, has pulled out of the 50 free, where he was entered with a time of 19.62. Crow’s only other entry is the 100 free, where he is seeded 23rd overall.
