2026 Australian Trials Day 2 Roster Update: Breaststroker Sienna Toohey Earns Roster Spot

2026 AUSTRALIAN SWIMMING TRIALS

After two days of competition at the 2026 Australian Trials, the Pan Pacs and Commonwealth Rosters are getting more full and becoming harder to parse.

With the results from day 2 included, the women have eight Priority 1 qualifiers for both Pan Pacs and the Commonwealth Games, meanwhile the men have six for each.

There was one complication on the women’s side for the Commonwealth roster. Mackenzie Burns and Claudia Fydler tied for 3rd in the 50 fly, touching in 26.21, just two hundredths faster than the Priority 3 qualifying time of 26.23. The official selection document states:

In the case of a tie by two or more athletes in the Open Final of an Individual Selection Event at the Qualifying Event, and that tie is determinative of whether one or more of the tied athletes are nominated to the Team, and each athlete swum a time in the Open Final that equals or betters the applicable SA Qualifying Time listed in Appendix 1 or 2, a further race will be conducted at the Qualifying Event between the tied athletes at a time to be determined by the Competition Technical Manager, with the winner of that race obtaining selection to the Team.

The two women will have to race a swim-off later in the meet, pending individual qualification in other events as the meet goes on.

Both Burns and Fydler are still entered in the 50 free and 100 free later in the week.

There were also relay qualifications that came up today, and that is making the roster look larger on the Pan Pacs side than it likely will be. The current Pan Pacs selection document states that the athletes ranked 3rd-8th “may be considered for selection onto the Team as a ‘relay-only’ athlete. As a reminder, Swimming Australia has absolute discretion with selection and any number of the swimmers may earn selection. We have listed all of them under Priority 2.

Some athletes also earned qualifications in 2nd individual events. We have kept athletes listed under their highest priority and added their other events by their name.
