- Start List
The 2026 Australian Open is nearly upon us, with action kicking off at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre on Monday, April 6th and spanning Wednesday, April 8th.
Although the meet is a non-selection competition, it represents an important stepping stone along the path to June’s all-important Australian Trials. That’s the meet where the Pan Pacific Championshps and Commonwealth Games rosters will be determined.
According to the start lists, we are scheduled to be treated to potentially explosive performances at the hands of Kaylee McKeown, Meg Harris and Shayna Jack on the women’s side.
Key entries for the men include Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers, St. Peters Western’s Elijah Winnington and distance dynamo Sam Short.
There are some veteran surprises among the mix as well, including butterfliers David Morgan and Olympic medalist Maddie Groves.

Wow no Sam Williamson ?
does anyone know if Clyde Lewis has officially retired. He was so promising back in 2019 swimming that 1:44
I fully thought Morgan and Groves fully retired
Morgan has been swimming in local meets on the Gold Coast for a few years plus at some bigger meets. I think he trains himself a lot.
No McEvoy
Nothing to prove, perhaps a couple of world records at Masters Nationals (SCM) in Brisbane late April where there will be 25m events in all strokes. It’s the first time AUSSIE Masters Nationals has had to close entries early due to over demand. Olympian David Morgan (32) has signed up for the 100 & 200 fly in the 30-34 age group and there is talk of a world record attempt in a freestyle relay.
I see Jaclyn Barclay isn’t entered. I notice Results Central has her club listed as Griffith University. I didn’t realise she had moved from SPW.
long-term injury I believe
Sub 56 for Alex Perkins
Hopefully a few promising performances.
Looking through the entries and can’t see Jamie perkins or iona anderson. I’m guessing Henry Allen is also just focusing on age nationals.
Given this isn’t trials doesn’t really make sense for Allen to do it instead of age. Especially since I assume Age is selection meet for junior teams which he might want to prioritise again. Or go to if he misses the team.
