Today was a light day in the medal totals with only three medal events and nine total medals being awarded, but the United States still ended the day at the top of the medal board with three total medals, two of which were gold. They also earned one bronze medal due to Ryan Erisman‘s performance in the men’s 400 freestyle.
Other notable medalists were Malaysia’s Khiew Hoe Yean who won silver in the men’s 400 freestyle to become the first Malaysian swimming medalist at the World University Games since 1991.
Russian swimmer Nikolai Kolesnikov won the other gold medal, the men’s 400 freestyle, for the Individual Neutral Athletes.
Seven nations, counting the Individual Neutral Athletes, ended the day on the medal board, with all but the U.S. earning one medal
