Last night was the final night of the 2025 US Summer Championships, and there were some fast swims across the board during the meet. Here are some of the swims you might have missed on the final day of competition.
Ava Chavez finished 12th in the women’s 200 freestyle, stopping the clock in 2:00.65 with splits of 58.59 and 1:02.06. This was a new personal best time from the 2:02.11 she set in May of 2024.
Julian Koch, the 15th place finisher in the men’s 200 freestyle, qualified for the final with a 1:52.33 out of the prelims, a new personal best time by more than three seconds. His previous best stood at 1:55.47 from last March. He was out fast in prelims, flipping in 24.99 at the first 50. He ended up splitting 53.45 on the first 100 before coming home in 58.88.
Cavalier Aquatics’s Emma Redman finished 17th in the women’s 100 breaststroke, dropping a full second to swim 1:12.04 and win the ‘C’ final. She came into the meet with a best time of 1:13.02 from last July.
Jonette Laegreid from Indiana Swim Club also saw a huge drop in the women’s 100 breaststroke, finishing 13th in 1:12.03, a second-and-a-half drop from the 1:13.50 time she set more than three years ago in 2022.
The men’s 200 butterfly saw Yochanan Meza win the men’s ‘B’ final with his first time ever under 2:00 in the event. He stopped the clock in 1:59.69, almost a full second under the 2:00.47 he set at last week’s Speedo Junior Nationals. He came into the season at 2:00.85 from last July.
