10 Meet Records Fall at South Florida’s Palm League Championships

The evening was hot and the competition was hotter at Tuesday night’s Palm League Championships, hosted by Nova Southeastern University (NSU) School in Davie, Florida.

The annual showdown between nine of South Florida’s finest private school teams showcased a treasure trove of local high school swimming and diving talent and saw multiple meet records go up in flames. Saint Andrews School of Boca Raton led the charge with two individual meet records, three relay records and the overall team championship for both boys and girls.

In a mid-season, after-school, timed finals meet, these athletes brought the heat!

Boys’ Individual Meet Records:

Juan Vallmitjana, NSU University School, Class of 2027

  • 200 free: 1:40.20
  • 500 free: 4:26.82

Jared Berke, Saint Andrews School, Class of 2027

  • 200 IM: 1:51.93
  • 100 breast: 57.02

Fueling the fire on the diving side of the meet (6 dives, timed finals) were the following top performers:

  • Sean Dowling, Oxbridge Academy, 486.60; Andres Winterman, NSU School, 485.85; and Ashton Jacobi, Pine Crest School, 361.00, for the boys.
  • The top female divers were Millie Cochrare, Saint Andrews School, 387.35; Harper Mull, Saint Andrews School, 321.60; and Bella Johnson, Pine Crest School, 320.90.

The top three overall boys’ teams were Palm League Champions Saint Andrews School, followed by Pine Crest School (Fort Lauderdale) and Ransom Everglades School (Coconut Grove). The top overall girls’ teams were Palm League Champions Saint Andrews School, followed by Pine Crest School and the Benjamin School (North Palm Beach).
