Connecticut Butterflier Robert Adams-Michaud signs with University of Delaware

Manchester High School senior Robert Adams-Michaud has signed an NLI to swim for the University of Delaware in 2015-16.

“After my official visit, I knew Delaware was the clear choice. I felt at home on the campus and the team welcomed me. The coaching staff and my future teammates will push to me succeed both in and out of the class. I’m very excited to be a Blue Hen next year.”

The Manchester, Connecticut native was a finalist in both the 50 free (sixth, with 22.15) and 100 fly (fourth, 51.91) at the 2014 CIAC Boys Class LL Championships. He also led off Manchester’s 400 free relay in 48.27.

Adams-Michaud swims for the Laurel East Hartford YMCA. He had a strong summer season, culminating in all best times and a trip to the finals in the 50m fly at the 2014 YMCA National Long Course Championship. Earlier in the year he swam the 50 free, 100 fly, and 200 back at YMCA National Short Course Championship, achieving best times the back. Adams-Michaud’s best SCY times over the last two years include:

100y fly: 51.91
50y free: 22.15
100y free: 48.70
200y free: 1:47.13
100y back: 55.03
200y back: 1:59.78

Adams-Michaud is likely to swim butterfly and the sprint to mid-distance freestyles at Delaware, but could fill in as a backstroker as needed. He will join Michigan breaststroker Chris Cornell and New Jersey sprinter Ryan Andresen in the strong Delaware class of 2019, and will reunite with former LEHY swimmer, Patrick Savidge, currently a standout freshman for the Blue Hens.
