Auburn Women Get Verbal From Caroline Schirmer

The Auburn women have picked up a new commit, with Saint Andrews’ Caroline Schirmer giving her verbal to the Tigers. Schirmer, a top 20 recruit out of the state of Florida, was a finalist at the 2013-14 Florida High School State 1A Championships. She placed 7th in the 500 free. That 4:59.46 currently stands as her best time.

When she arrives at Auburn, Schirmer will be primarily of value in the freestyle events, but she shows some promise in backstroke as well. At the 2014-15 state championships, she posted best times in the 100 back (58.10) and 200 free (1:51.20). Her best 200 back currently sits at a 2:03.89.

Schirmer’s Top Times:

100 Free 52.92
200 Free 1:51.20
500 Free 4:59.46
1650 Free 17:49.09
100 Back 58.1
200 Back 2:03.89

Schirmer has extended her focus to the longer distances as well. At the 2014 Speedo Sectionals in Plantation, Florida, she earned a top 8 finish with an 18:19.98 in the 1500 free. Her best time in yards is a 17:49.09. That gives the Tigers the option to put her in the longer events at dual meets next season.
