NEW YORK – Xavier men’s and women’s swimming swept the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week, with Olivia Oyster picking up the honor on the women’s side and Aiden Leamer earning the honor on the men’s side.
Oyster, a junior from Delaware, Ohio, collected five event wins through Xavier’s meets at Cincinnati and Bellarmine over the weekend. Oyster won the 50 free, setting a time of 22.97 and came back with a time of 50.53 in the 100 free to sweep the freestyle sprints against UC. She also helped Xavier to a second place finish in the 200 free relay. At Bellarmine with NKU, Oyster collected another first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 50.92. She also placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.61. Oyster also helped Xavier’s A-Team take first in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.
Leamer, a junior from Mason, Ohio, collected four event wins and four second-place finishes over the weekend. Against Cincinnati, Leamer won the 100 fly, finishing in a time of 49.60. He also placed second in the 50 free, setting a time of 21.45. Leamer helped Xavier relays to a pair of second place finishes against the Bearcats as well. At Bellarmine with NKU, Leamer took the top spot in the 200 fly, finishing in a time of 1:49.14 and won the 100 fly with a time of 50.00. Leamer also swam both relays as part of the A-Team, helping Xavier take first in the 200 free relay and second in the 200 medley relay.
