Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Winter Juniors qualifier and Virginia state runner-up Jack Clippinger has verbally committed to the Drexel University class of 2026.
“I am so very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Drexel University. Shoutout out to the family, friends, teammates, and coaches that have supported me and made it worth it every single day. A super special shoutout to JKap and Blake for cultivating a team culture that allows me to thrive to the highest degree. Finally, shoutout to Coach Erik and Nathan for giving me this incredible opportunity. Go Dragons!!!🐉”
Clippinger swims for the SwimRVA Rapids and is currently a senior at Lloyd C Bird High School in Chesterfield, Virginia.
At the 2025 VHSL Class 5 State Championship meet, Clippinger was the state runner-up in the 100 breast, swimming 56.10 to set a new personal best at the time. He also swam the 200 freestyle, finishing 7th in 1:43.99, which was also a personal best.
At the 2025 East Winter Juniors, he swam the 100 breast in 56.65 to finish 70th and the 200 breast in 2:02.64 to finish 50th.
Clippinger rounded out his 2025 at the Hanover Hawk Invite on December 20th where he went a new personal best time in the 100 breast, swimming 55.98 to dip under 56 seconds for the first time. He also swam the 500 freestyle, touching in 4:49.96.
He was also named a member of USA Swimming’s Scholastic All-American Class for 2024.
Best Times SCY
- 100 breast — 55.98
- 200 breast — 2:02.61
- 200 fly — 1:53.43
Drexel is a Division I school that competes in the Coastal Athletic Association and at the 2025 CAA Championships, the men’s team finished 3rd with 607.5 points to come in just over 100 points behind Delaware.
Clippinger will add depth to the breaststroke events with his 55.98 coming in at 3rd on the team right now and it would have been 4th last year.
There were only 20 men in the event at last year’s conference championships, and he is well within the 16th place time of 56.70 that it took to score.
In the 200 breaststroke, he would also be 3rd, and his time comes in nearly a second under the 2:03.33 it took in prelims to score.
His 3rd event looks like the 200 fly right now, and if the CAA follows the lead of the NCAA and changes the event order, it is realistic to swim both the 200 breast and 200 fly. Last season, it took 1:50.19 to qualify for the final, so he would need to drop a bit of time to be a three event scorer.
Clippinger will join Devin Rothman and Kyle Coffman in the fall.
