Chippendales Impressed W/ Phelps’ Curtain of Distraction Performance

Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past week, you’ve no doubt seen a clip of the greatest Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, straight flexing behind Arizona State University’s famed ‘Curtain of Distraction.’

Standing in between two ASU students during free throws at a home game on January 28th against rival Arizona, the 18-time gold medalist showed up in a swim brief and cap, complete with a neckfull of gold medals. The ‘Curtain of Distraction’ is a well-known diversion tactic by the Sun Devil fans situated along the baseline of the Wells Fargo Arena, whose goal is to distract the opposing free-throw shooters.

If you can’t get enough of the GOAT taking the Curtain of Distraction to an entirely new level, you can relive the action here.

But the swimming community isn’t the only demographic who has taken notice of Phelps’ moves whilst clad in a male dancer-esque collar and cuffs with his absolutely ripped physique on full display.  According to the celebrity gossip website, TMZ.com, the original male striptease revue, Chippendales, has expressed interest in having the 30-year-old at least make a guest appearance.

The TMZ site says they have spoken with a Chippendales rep, who reportedly had reached out to Phelps’ camp in the hopes of landing him in a special celebrity spot at the show in Vegas. According to TMZ, the agent said, “We know Michael will add a touch of gold to our already stellar, internationally acclaimed flagship production in the $10 million Chippendales Theatre at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.”

Catch that? The hotel and casino is ironically called ‘Rio’.

The offer by the Chippendales has not yet been responded to by Phelps according to TMZ, and until it is accepted or acknowledged by the GOAT, the offer remains just that: an offer.

we didnt have the curtain and stuff cause my college was small, and in a pretty conservative town in texas. but we wore our speedos and sneakers to basketball games, volleyball, football. and our teams loved it. we would paint our chest with stuff related to that sport. it was a blast. alot of the older spectators complained about us, but our coaches for those sports requested we show up at every game because they loved it. if your going to complain about it, realize he is having fun. he is supporting ASU, where he is training, living, etc. so be happy he is even getting involved at all there rather than be a hermit.

I find this discouraging. It is the same feeling, reaction I had when natalie coughlin posed for the ESPN body issue. Of course, it is none of my business, but I have such high respect for swimmers, that I like seeing them elevated, not devalued or objectified. Swimmers are all beautiful, with the hard-won physiques of minor gods, radiating prime health and youth. It makes me sad when they are cheapened. It’s old-school, your body is your temple thinking. Anyway, just my two cents which is worth zero.

Huh? It’s the “curtain of distraction”. All sorts of distractions come out from behind that curtain.

I can understand your sentiment for this, but you felt the same way about Natalie Coughlin and the body?? Isn’t the whole point of that issue to elevate people’s bodies?

So when Ryan Lochte and Conor Dwyer did photo shoots for Tom Ford and Tommy Hilfiger did you have an issue with that?

Those movies are fantastic and I will be the first in line to see the Phelps version.

Sadly, there can’t be a Phelps-Chris Farley dance-off for the spot.
