USC Women Overtake Stanford For Top Spot In Collegiate Water Polo Week 13 Polls

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California assumes the No. 1 position in the Division I ranks and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges retains the top spot among Division III teams after 13 weeks of varsity competition as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2023 Week 13/April 12 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

Princeton University remains at No. 1 in the CWPA Division I Top Five Poll, while Augustana College retains the lead position in the CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.

2023 WOMEN’S VARSITY NATIONAL TOP 25 (WEEK 13/APRIL 12)

The University of Southern California – which claimed a 17-12 victory over previously top-ranked Stanford University last week – takes over at No. 1 as the 2023 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Week 13/April 12 Poll is released.

USC (98 points) edges out the Cardinal (97 points) by a single point to dislodge Stanford from the top spot.

The University of California-Los Angeles (92 points), the University of Hawaii (88 points) and the University of California (81 points) remain at No. 2-to-5, respectively, while the trio of the University of California-Irvine (76 points), Princeton University (76 points) and Long Beach State University (76 points) move into a three-way tie at No. 6.

Fresno State University (67 points) stays at No. 9 with the University of California-Santa Barbara (62 points) and University of the Pacific (57 points) both moving up to take over at No. 10 and 11, respectively.

The University of Michigan (55 points) and the University of California-Davis (55 points) rise and fall into a tie at No. 12 with the University of California-San Diego (49 points) taking over at No. 14.  Harvard University (42 points) and Loyola Marymount University (42 points) are tied at No. 15 with Indiana University (39 points) and Wagner College (34 points) breaking at tie at No. 16 from last week to rate at No. 17 and 18.

Arizona State University (32 points) remains at No. 19 with San Jose State University (23 points) and Brown University (21 points) relocating to No. 20 and 21.

California State University-Northridge (12 points) and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (12 points) tie at No. 22, San Diego State University (8 points) improves to No. 24 and the duo of Long Island University (6 points) and Marist College (6 points) are tied at No. 25 to complete the Week 13 rankings.

2023 WOMEN’S VARSITY DIVISION III TOP 10 (WEEK 13/APRIL 12)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges continues at No. 1 in the Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Week 13/April 12 Poll for the 2023 season.

Pomona-Pitzer (100 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points), the University of La Verne (88 points) and California Lutheran University (87 points) remain at No. 1-to-4, respectively, with the University of Redlands (78 points) and Augustana College (71 points) breaking a tie at No. 5 to rate at No. 5 and 6.

Whittier College (70 points), Chapman University (66 points), Austin College (65 points) and Macalester College (22 points) complete the Top 10.

2023 WOMEN’S VARSITY COLLEGIATE WATER POLO ASSOCIATION TOP 5 (WEEK 13/APRIL 12)

Princeton University continues at No. 1 in the 2023 CWPA Division I Top Five Week 13/April 12 Poll.

The rankings remain unchanged from last week’s balloting as Princeton (100 points), the University of Michigan (95 points), Harvard University (90 points), Brown University (85 points) and Saint Francis University (80 points) continue at No. 1-to-5.

2023 WOMEN’S VARSITY COLLEGIATE WATER POLO ASSOCIATION DIVISION III TOP 5 (WEEK 13/APRIL 12)

Augustana College retains top billing in the 2023 Week 13/April 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Top Five rankings. 

Augustana (100 points) leads a CWPA Division III Top Five poll which remains relatively unchanged from the April 5 voting.

The Vikings – which claimed the CWPA Division III-West Region regular season crown and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming league championship at Macalester College – and CWPA Division III-West Region runner-up Austin College (95 points) remain at No. 1 and 2, while CWPA Division III-East Region regular champion Connecticut College (86 points) and CWPA Division III-West Region Third Place finisher Macalester (86 points) move into a tie at No. 3.

CWPA Division III-East Region runner-up Washington & Jefferson College (83 points) completes the Top Five for the second time in as many weeks by rating at No. 5.
