University Of The Pacific Receives Commitment From Kate Geiger (2023)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kate Geiger has announced her verbal commitment to the University of the Pacific for the upcoming 2023-2024 season. Geiger is wrapping up her senior year at Immanuel High School, located in Reedley, California. She also trains and competes year-round with Tule Nation Tritons in Tulare, California.

Geiger is following in the footsteps of her older sister, Lauren Geiger. Her older sister transferred to the University of the Pacific in 2020 after previously swimming for Fresno Pacific University.

“I am beyond blessed to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of the Pacific! Thank you to all of my coaches, friends, and family for getting me this far. Special thanks to Lauren for being my biggest inspiration and the best sister ever, I hope to make you proud at your alma mater! From being a little girl doing summer rec just for fun to committing to a D1 program, God is so good. I cannot wait to see what the future holds! #gotyges 🧡🖤🐯”

Geiger is a pure sprint freestyler. She most recently competed at the Speedo Sectionals in Carlsbad, where she set a season best time in the 100 free of 54.07. Her highest finish of the meet was in the 50 free, where she logged a 24.78 for 73rd place overall.

Prior to the Carlsbad Sectionals, Geiger had a strong showing at the Juanita Allington Memorial Meet in February. She finished 4th in the 50 free with a personal best time of 24.48 and 10th in the 100 free with a 54.19. She also notched a personal best in the 200 free with a 1:58.95, and dropped over four seconds in the 100 fly to record a 1:03.05.

Top SCY Times:

  •  50 free – 24.48
  • 100 free – 53.93
  • 200 free – 1:58.95

The Tigers finished 7th out of 10 teams at the 2023 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships. Geiger is currently outside of MPSF scoring range, as it took a 23.79 to qualify for the B-final in the 50 free, and a 51.51 in the 100.

Geiger would have been tied for the team’s 4th-fastest performer in the 50 free last season. Leading the 50 freestylers was Paige Sondergroth, who cracked 24-seconds last season with a 23.82. Alexia Ferguson was just behind at 24.04, while Deanna Brazil was next best with a 24.15. All three will still be on campus when Geiger arrives, making her arrival key as they continue to build sprint depth.

Geiger joins Nevada native Amanda Schweichler in the Tigers’ class of 2027. Schweichler also swims freestyle, but is more mid-distance oriented.
